About the Role

The position of Estate Support Housing Officer at Austin Fraser presents an opportunity to contribute to the STOP Service, providing housing-related support and intensive housing management to service users.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with other providers of housing and support services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for taking referrals from various agencies, conducting needs and risk assessments, and working closely with service users to achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking referrals from voluntary and statutory agencies, including services within the prison and criminal justice system, housing and homelessness sector, health, social care, and support sector.
  • Conducting needs and risk assessments to assess each referral for suitability for the service and liaising with other services regarding referral support needs and risks.
  • Working collaboratively with other providers of housing and support services to prevent ex-offenders and those at risk of re-offending from being homeless.
  • Providing intensive support with a minimum of at least 2 face-to-face key working sessions per week, additional face-to-face and/or telephone support, and multi-agency support based on service users' individual support needs and risks.
  • Assisting service users to access the support and services that will help raise their quality of life, provide stability, explore options to pursue personal goals, aspirations, and make choices.
  • Working with a service user-led approach to Support Planning, Risk Assessment, and Risk Management to deliver support around housing and tenancy readiness, health, economic wellbeing, criminal and civil justice, education and training, service user involvement, community interaction, social enjoyment, and positive relationships.
  • Providing and promoting practical help and support to service users to assist in the development of their life skills and enable them to secure and maintain independent accommodation, i.e., become tenancy ready, secure tenants with landlords in line with the housing first model, and/or look at alternative move-on accommodation routes.
  • Providing transitional support to establish service users in their new tenancy before referring to our floating support team or others operating in the district.
  • In accordance with Policies and Procedures, ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of all services to promote and encourage good practice.
  • Promoting the service through inter-agency liaison, local and regional forums, and developing Joint working protocols for effective support delivery.
  • Promoting inclusion and opportunities for service user involvement, consultation, and feedback on STOP service delivery and provisions.
  • Providing street outreach and drop-in sessions at events (and at other housing providers/organisations as appropriate) to make contact with those who are homeless or living in temporary accommodation and may benefit from STOP services.
  • Working flexibly and covering holidays and sickness, sometimes at short notice.
  • Working flexible hours to meet the needs of the Service Users, which could include early morning/late night working.
  • Working flexibly across all services as and when required.
  • Working in the community in service users' home addresses as well as in our offices.
