Job Summary:

NHS Education for Scotland is seeking a highly experienced pharmacist to join their team as a Principal Lead for the Pharmacy Foundation Training Year Programme. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and education experience, with a strong understanding of the initial education and training of pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of the Pharmacy Foundation Training Year Programme to trainee pharmacists
  • Work closely with the Associate Postgraduate Pharmacy Deans and other stakeholders to ensure the programme meets the needs of the pharmacy workforce
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure the programme meets the required standards
  • Collaborate with the NES Directorates and key internal stakeholders to ensure the programme aligns with the overall strategy of NHS Education for Scotland

Requirements:

  • Pharmacist registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Proven leadership experience in an educationally focused environment
  • Significant experience as a pharmacist practicing in any sector (community, hospital, primary care)
  • Experience of supervising trainees/learners and/or wider leadership experience in relation to initial education and training of pharmacists
  • High-level communication, interpersonal, negotiating, influencing, and facilitation skills at a senior level
