Job Overview

The Fertiliser Trader role at ADM Agriculture involves trading with suppliers and pricing fertiliser products for Farm Traders. This position requires developing opportunities and margin on fertiliser for wholesale sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate opportunities and margin within fertiliser wholesale sectors.
  • Work with colleagues to take responsibility for day-to-day fertiliser trading in the absence of the Head of Fertiliser, adhering to position parameters and trading standards.
  • Manage and develop the ADM Agriculture wholesale fertiliser business across the UK.
  • Attend and assist in supplier strategy meetings with the Head of Fertiliser when required.
  • Communicate UK and global market trends to fertiliser customers and farm trading teams.
  • Manage and develop business with your own customer base, working within trading standards set by the Head of Fertiliser.
  • Hold regular meetings with farm traders and attend meetings when required.
  • Work closely with the Lead on Retail development and Fertiliser Logistics & Trading Support to ensure smooth execution of all retail and wholesale fertiliser business.
  • Expand the ADM alternative fertiliser range and link to ADM's regenerations programme.
  • Represent the company at corporate events and shows.
  • Deal promptly and effectively with any complaints or issues that arise.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to utilise them to make correct and profitable trading decisions.
  • Full understanding of contractual obligations and contracts that govern the markets being traded.
  • FACTS qualification by Spring 2025.
  • Driven and enthusiastic about growing career, taking ownership of personal development and opportunities.
  • High level of commercial awareness, focused on making profitable business decisions.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, able to converse effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft packages and bespoke systems.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to taking ownership of and fulfilling duties.
