We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Barnstaple, working on a full-time, permanent basis. You'll receive a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,279 per annum, plus benefits.

About the Role:

As our Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for fault-finding, repairing, and maintaining South West Water assets across various sites. Your goal will be to ensure maximum asset availability and support our vision by minimizing risk to compliance and preventing pollution.

  • Carry out reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship
  • Provide recommended specifications for ordering stock replacements and parts needed for repairs
  • Manufacture and fabricate parts and equipment
  • Undertake training to carry out work activities safely and legally
  • Carry out work activities as scheduled
  • Assist operational staff with complex problem resolution
  • Keep internal customers updated on activities impacting their processes
  • Use or request method statements and safe systems of work for activities
  • Act as the duty Mechanical Craftperson on a standby/call-out rota basis

What We're Looking For:

  • A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
  • A full understanding of related RAMS for an effective and safe maintenance regime
  • Experience with Waste Water treatment processes is desirable
  • Ability to fault-find and repair complex mechanical equipment
