Pediatric Nurse Specialist

Main DutiesAs an experienced nurse, you will lead a team of motivated staff, assessing care needs, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for children and their families. You will work closely with the Ward Manager, Consultants, and Nurse Specialists to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead a team of skilled staff
- Assess care needs and implement programmes of care
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care
- Develop link nurse roles, care pathways, and policies
- Be clinically credible in delivering general and specialist paediatric services
- Support the Ward Manager in ensuring an effective workforce
- Take an active role in assessing and supporting patient experience

Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
- RSCN/RN Child qualification
- EPLS/APLS course
- Mentor/assessor qualification
- 1st level degree or working towards
Desirable Criteria
- ACP qualification
- HDU post registrations course or equivalent experience
- Simulation experience
- EPLS instructor qualification
Experience
- Extensive experience in a PICU or HDU Level 2
- Previous experience at Band 5 or equivalent
Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of paediatric speciality
- Knowledge of current clinical evidence-based practice
- Knowledge of current changes in NHS and Social Services
- Knowledge of current professional issues relating to nursing
- Understanding of equal opportunities and patient confidentiality
Skills
- Demonstrable organisational and clinical skills
- Ability to support and manage a caseload of patients
- Ability to organise and deliver good standards of research-based clinical nursing care
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Inter-personal and counselling skills
