Lead Cardiac Nurse Practitioner Opportunity

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Cardiac Nurse Practitioner to lead our Cardiology team. As a clinical expert, you will be responsible for leading progressive nursing practice and contributing to the strategic and operational management of the Cardiothoracic Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a world-class centre, delivering excellent evidence-based care to our patients. You will work closely with the Ward Manager, Practice Development Nurse, and Cardiology ACP to develop and lead projects that benefit patients and staff.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Act as a clinical expert, leading progressive nursing practice and contributing to the strategic and operational management of the Cardiothoracic Directorate.
  2. Provide information, advice, and support to patients with complex cardiac conditions.
  3. Identify and initiate change in response to service, taking a professional and clinical lead in the development of evidence-based approaches to practice.
  4. Lead strategic projects within the directorate in relation to the Cardiology Ward/ACCU.
  5. Manage and develop the senior nursing team on the ward and ensure that all members of staff receive supervision and training.
  6. Promote patient-centred nursing within teams.

Person Specification
  • Considerable experience in cardiology
  • Leadership experience at band 7 or above
