Domestic Violence Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Violence Advocate to join our team at Victim Support. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to survivors of domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities- Work in partnership with other professionals to ensure effective risk management and safeguarding duties are met.
- Develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
- Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
- Hold a caseload focusing on high-risk survivors of domestic abuse to provide medium to long-term support, based on thorough risk assessment and individual safety and support planning.
- Attend regular case meetings with the DRIVE Case Managers and partnership agencies.
- Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse.
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Understand safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
