About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced perioperative nurse leader to join our team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and management for both the Day Procedure Unit and the Same Day Admissions Unit.

Key responsibilities will include planning and implementing flexible duty rosters to support the primary/named nurse concept, preparing patients for their procedure, and coordinating patient activity, staffing, and utilization within the clinical area.

You will also be involved in the education and training of nurses, ODPs, and trainee clinicians in the specialty of elective surgery, and will be expected to promote a patient-centered approach to care.

As a perioperative nurse leader, you will be accountable for the standards of practice within the team and will be responsible for implementing the HR process and participating in the monitoring and management of staff sickness, absence, and annual leave.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for both the Day Procedure Unit and the Same Day Admissions Unit
  • Plan and implement flexible duty rosters to support the primary/named nurse concept
  • Prepare patients for their procedure, including preoperative tests such as observations, blood monitoring, pregnancy test, and urinalysis
  • Coordinate patient activity, staffing, and utilization within the clinical area
  • Involved in the education and training of nurses, ODPs, and trainee clinicians in the specialty of elective surgery
  • Promote a patient-centered approach to care
  • Accountable for the standards of practice within the team
  • Implement the HR process and participate in the monitoring and management of staff sickness, absence, and annual leave
Requirements
  • Registered 1st level Nurse
  • NMC Registration
  • Evidence of formal teaching qualification or working towards this
  • Evidence of formal ongoing professional development
  • Evidence of organization, prioritization, and communication skills
