Emotional Literacy Support Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emotional Literacy Support Assistant to join our team at South Hampshire College Group. As an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH and SEND, helping them develop their emotional literacy and social skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist in the support and inclusion of students with SEMH and SEND.
- To support the development of students' emotional literacy and social skills through specific and targeted intervention.
- To support students' academic and social communication needs and to support positive social and emotional well-being, enabling them to engage in learning in and out of the college environment.
Requirements:
- Experience of supporting students/young people with specific additional needs.
- Proven experience of dealing with behavioural issues and having the resilience required to deal with these challenging situations effectively.
- Understanding of SEND Code of practice.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, their parents/carers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and ensure that deadlines are met whilst maintaining a positive and optimistic attitude.
Qualifications:
- Minimum GCSE grade 4/C in English & Maths or equivalent.
- Level 3 qualification or higher in a learning difficulties/disabilities related qualification.
