As an Emotional Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the emotional well-being and academic progress of students across various year groups. Working closely with teachers and other school staff, you will be part of a dedicated team aiming to provide tailored emotional and academic support to students with mental health challenges.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with an understanding of safeguarding principles to ensure a secure environment for all students.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional and behavioural support to students with mental health needs.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans alongside the pastoral and SEN teams.
  • Collaborate with teachers to promote a positive learning atmosphere for all students.
  • Offer guidance and practical support to help students manage their mental health challenges.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as required.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in mental health, social care, or education.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse needs and work in a supportive capacity.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
