About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our Products team, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice on mortgages and savings products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the Society's risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear, prompt, and effective legal advice to stakeholders on mortgages and savings accounts, including contract drafting and review.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teams in the Legal Function and wider Society to ensure a consistent and accurate approach to legal advice and support.
  • Ensure that the Society remains compliant with legal and regulatory requirements in your area and acts in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues, external legal experts, and other business partners.
Requirements
  • Legally qualified with demonstrable experience in the elements required for this role and in working in a complex and busy workplace.
  • Strong drafting and research experience, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, concise advice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate, analyze, and influence.
  • Financial services experience and/or experience of working in a regulated environment is desirable.
