About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our Products team, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice on mortgages and savings products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the Society's risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear, prompt, and effective legal advice to stakeholders on mortgages and savings accounts, including contract documentation, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Assist in the review and development of Savings Account Terms and Conditions and Mortgage Conditions, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and the Society's risk appetite.
  • Coordinate responses to material non-standard litigation matters and provide expert advice on complaints and disputes.
  • Collaborate with other teams in the Legal Function and wider Society to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues, external legal experts, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
  • Legally qualified with demonstrable experience in the elements required for this role and in working in a complex and busy workplace.
  • Strong drafting and research experience, with the ability to negotiate, analyze, and influence.
  • Experience in financial services and/or working in a regulated environment is desirable.
