Main Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist/Practitioner Psychologist to join our Inpatient Psychology Service at Clock View Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological services to patients, including assessment, formulation, intervention, and evaluation.

They will also contribute to the development of the service, including teaching, training, and supervision of assistant psychologists and trainee clinical psychologists.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to a compassionate, inclusive, person-centred approach and to social justice and human rights.

They will also have experience of working in an inpatient setting, with a wide range of client groups, and be able to apply clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.

We welcome applications from qualified psychological practitioners with post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of the service.

The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with other professionals to provide high-quality care to patients.

They will also be responsible for identifying and employing mechanisms of service governance to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.

Person Specification
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its approved equivalent accredited by the BPS
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
  • Experience of working in an Inpatient Setting
  • High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies
