We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Corkey House, located in Belfast. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week, with flexible hours including weekends.

Our team provides supportive care to residents, fostering a warm and welcoming environment. We prioritize residents' well-being and strive to deliver high-quality care services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Care Provision:
    1. Work collaboratively with the management team to create personalized care plans for residents.
    2. Evaluate care plans to ensure they meet high standards and deliver quality services.
    3. Provide personal care support to residents while respecting their autonomy and dignity.
    4. Encourage residents to engage in activities promoting independence.
    5. Ensure safe medication administration and adhere to relevant policies.
    6. Organize and supervise recreational activities for residents.
    7. Maintain a vigilant approach to residents', staff's, and visitors' health, safety, and well-being.
  2. Leadership and Staff Support:
    1. Supervise staff as directed by the Head of Home.
    2. Exemplify effective leadership skills and foster teamwork.
    3. Participate in NVQ/QCF assessments as directed by the Head of Home.
    4. Ensure smooth handovers and communication between staff.
    5. Facilitate daily prayers in the Home, as requested.
    6. Adhere to established rules, regulations, and reporting mechanisms for good practice and quality agenda.
    7. Support staff training and development to meet professional standards and Codes of Practice.
    8. Promote Quality Assurance initiatives.
  3. Administrative Tasks:
    1. Handle resident and family inquiries, referring complex matters to the Head of Home when necessary.
    2. Complete various administrative duties.
    3. Maintain accurate and confidential records.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years experience caring for older people, individuals with disabilities, or those with mental health needs.
  • Ability to develop medication administration competency within 4 weeks of employment start date.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 Award in Health and Social Care and willingness to progress to Level 3.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, email, RQIA portal, and electronic recording systems.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated hourly wage for this role is £13.03 - £13.13 per hour, aligned with the UK National Living Wage.
