Job Title: Head of History

Job Summary:

MLK Education Search is seeking an exceptional teacher and leader to head up the thriving History Department at a community Academy in Southwark. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading curriculum and teaching standards within History, with a focus on strategic oversight of Key Stage 3 and 4, and planning for the growth into Key Stage 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead training and build relationships with specialist providers to ensure up-to-date knowledge of statutory guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with families and students about curriculum and delivery of History.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching, learning, and assessment within the faculty.
  • Plan and deliver outstanding lessons, utilizing a variety of teaching resources.
  • Contribute to the Academy's EDI strategy and set and mark internal examinations and tests as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and relevant qualifications and experience in History.
  • Demonstrate an overview of the needs of the whole school and curriculum area.
  • Be aware of current relevant legislation and educational developments.
  • Understand the curriculum and factors contributing to the learning experience of pupils.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to change and a flexible approach to the demands of the post.
