Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nursing Associate to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team in Luton. The successful candidate will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide compassionate, safe, and effective care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide person-centred care and support to patients in a range of care settings.
  2. Monitor patients' conditions and health needs on a continual basis, working in partnership with patients, families, and carers.
  3. Communicate effectively with colleagues, providing clear verbal, digital, or written information and instructions when sharing information, delegating, or handing over responsibility for care.
  4. Recognise and report any situations, behaviours, or errors that could result in poor care outcomes.
  5. Work alongside senior health professionals in planning the workload and completing tasks on Sys1/Malinko.
  6. Act in the best interests of patients and provide nursing care that is safe, compassionate, and person-centred.

Person Specification
  • NMC Registered Nursing Associate
  • Completion of End Point Assessment for applicants who have undertaken an apprenticeship route
  • GCSE Grade A-C English and Maths or Level 2 in Maths and English
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Care Certificate or willingness to train
  • Related health and social care qualification (Level 3)
Experience
  • Experience of working in teams
  • Experience of patient-centred care
  • Experience of health coaching and promoting independent living
  • Competent with Sys1 and competencies relevant to community nursing
  • Previous experience of working within the community setting/working within palliative care services
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and social care providers
  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered health or care professional
  • Standard keyboard skills and ability to communicate through IT using packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Has a realistic knowledge of the expectations of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how they may contribute to service development
