**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced Head of Cybersecurity Operations to join our team at itecopeople. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing IT security operations, ideally within a complex and sensitive environment like higher education.

About us: Our client is a leading academic institution in London, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and innovative research initiatives. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) department plays a vital role in enhancing student and faculty success, with a dedicated Information Security team responsible for safeguarding the university's digital assets.

The Opportunity: This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Information Security Manager to lead the operational security efforts and develop effective security measures. As a direct report to the Head of Information Security, you will play a critical role in maintaining robust defenses against cyber threats and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operational aspects of the university's information security framework.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive security policies and procedures.
  • Lead security assessments, including system audits, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing.
  • Manage the response to security incidents and provide expert advice on mitigation and legal repercussions.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing IT security operations, preferably within a complex and sensitive environment like higher education.
  • Expertise in the latest security protocols, data protection laws, and compliance frameworks.
  • Degree in Information Technology or related field, with professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with ITIL practices and risk management methodologies.
