Lead Software Engineer Role at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our team at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design and maintenance of software related to our data warehouse, including processes, delivery platforms, and software for acquiring, maintaining, and presenting data.

This position requires exceptional technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to promote excellence in software development while adhering to key principles and processes. As a successful applicant, you will be responsible for leading our team's software strategy and program of product delivery and maintenance.

We value diversity and welcome applicants who can communicate effectively in English and/or Welsh. The ideal candidate will have advanced SQL skills, a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, and experience with web application development using MVC/C#/HTML/JS/JQuery.

Essential Skills:
  • Proven experience in a data engineering or similar role in a formal development environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of relational database systems and associated database administration activities
  • Advanced understanding of OOP principles and C# programming language
  • Experience designing/writing/supporting web applications using MVC/C#/HTML/JS/JQuery
About the Role:

The successful candidate will be required to attend face-to-face interviews at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Working from home is supported, but it is crucial that the applicant can regularly attend these locations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, or Maths subject or equivalent qualifications, knowledge, or experience
  • Proven experience in a data engineering or similar role in a formal development environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of relational database systems and associated database administration activities
  • Excellent working knowledge of OOP principles and at least one OOP language (preferably C#)
  • Experience designing/writing/supporting web applications (MVC/C#/HTML/JS/JQuery)
Salary and Benefits:

The estimated annual salary for this role is around £60,000 - £80,000, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, health insurance, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
