We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Claims Technician to join our team at IPS Group. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for investigating, examining, negotiating, and settling credit insurance claims related to the construction sector.
Key Responsibilities- Claims Investigation and Assessment: Examine and assess claims submitted, including settlements within agreed authority schedules and specified timescales.
- Claims Processing: Set up, review, and pay claims using bespoke IT systems.
- Insolvency Monitoring: Record and monitor insolvency dates that form the claim event.
- Loss Mitigation: Assess opportunities to mitigate losses and follow up with ongoing communication.
- Claims Analysis: Analytically assess claims, applying judgment to uncertified applications and final accounts.
- Reserve Calculation: Calculate reserves and input them into the claims system.
- Insolvency Confirmation: Confirm insolvency events, collect loss information, and record it.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with Insolvency Practitioners and external stakeholders.
- Fraud Detection: Identify fraudulent claims.
- Meeting Attendance: Attend creditors' meetings, assist with proofs of debt and proxies, and follow up on dividends.
- Reporting and Communication: Report potential large losses and communicate concerns to Risk/Underwriters.
- General Support: Handle general queries and maintain claims documentation in a paperless filing system.
- Client and Broker Relationships: Liaise with underwriters and advise policyholders on claims procedures and coverage.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively seek better ways to perform tasks and ensure a professional and fair approach at all times.
- Construction Industry Experience: Experience in the construction industry.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a confident telephone manner.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to assess complex matters and report succinctly.
- Teamwork and Flexibility: Flexible, proactive attitude and team player.
- Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness and ability to work on own initiative.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and willingness to learn and challenge norms.
- Construction-Related Qualifications: Degree/BTEC/professional qualification in a construction-related subject.
- Accountancy or Surveying Experience: Accountancy or surveying experience within a construction company.
- Professional Membership: Membership in the Institute of Credit Management (ICM) or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), or working towards qualification.
- Credit Management Experience: Experience in Credit Management, Accounts Receivable, or Accounts Payable.
- Analytical Qualifications: Degree in an analytical subject (e.g., economics, law, history).
