Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Walsall, UK

Hours: 24 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 2 days per week

Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate

Role Overview and Purpose

This role is the public face of the Security Team, requiring a professional and can-do attitude. The successful candidate will ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are provided to clients and visitors.

Part-time position with 24 hours per week contract, plus overtime for holidays, sickness, and nights.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide first-class customer-focused service to all visitors and tenants.
  2. Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre, being proactive and vigilant.
  3. Continuously look for opportunities to assist visitors, helping wherever possible.
  4. Safeguard the site, ensuring a safe and non-threatening environment for all.
  5. Manage incidents in accordance with site policies and procedures.
  6. Liaise with the site control room, reacting to incidents and briefing colleagues.
  7. Report unsecure areas to the control room and take action to resolve.
  8. Record and log non-conformances and emergencies with control room operatives.
  9. Deal efficiently with emergencies, keeping the Centre team informed.
  10. Understand human behaviour, monitor and surveil suspect individuals, and report incidents.
  11. Maintain vigilance and manage unauthorised access by banned individuals.
  12. Adhere to radio procedures.
  13. Record events and incidents in the Security Officer notebook, following policies.
  14. Undertake other reasonable duties as required to meet business needs.

Required Skills and Experience

  1. Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful while performing duties.
  2. Take ownership of situations, ensuring tasks are completed or escalated when necessary.
  3. Stay motivated, aiming high and achieving.
  4. Respect all staff and visitors within the shopping centre.

Documents/Information Required

  • Valid SIA Licence
  • 5-year checkable background
  • Age 18 or over
  • Documentation demonstrating eligibility to work in the UK
