Job Summary:

The BBC is seeking a talented individual to join its Journalism Apprenticeship programme. As a Journalist Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced journalists to develop your skills and knowledge in a fast-paced news environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with BBC News and Sports teams to create and deliver high-quality content for TV, online, digital, and audio platforms.
  • Contribute to all newsroom activities, including sourcing and securing guests or contributors, writing briefs, and shooting and editing films.
  • Research and develop stories for diverse audiences, including coming up with ideas, conducting in-depth research, and assisting with interviews.
  • Learn from and work with industry experts to develop your skills and knowledge.

What You Will Study:

The L5 Journalist Apprenticeship combines academic training with practical on-the-job experience. You will follow the Journalist Apprenticeship standard (curriculum) and work towards an industry-recognised qualification, the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism.

  • Flexibility, motivation, and an adaptable approach to the pace of work.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts.
  • Lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years by the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Eligible to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
  • Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation.
