Senior Engineering Manager

Ultra PCS is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering and deploying people resources into development and support projects.

This role will work closely with other Senior Engineering Managers and the Head of Engineering to provide a suitably qualified and experienced team to meet the quantifiable needs of the business. You will also effectively manage risk and provide technical expertise to aid the Director of Engineering Development in satisfying project needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, commercial negotiations, and project management. They will be able to work with the Defence and Major Prime Contractors, and have experience with working in a design / development and manufacturing environment.

The Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and adhering to Ultra PCS engineering policies
  • Ensuring scope of work, budgets, and deadlines are clearly understood
  • Communicating issues / deviations with the project team(s)
  • Ensuring timely and appropriate preventative and corrective actions are taken
  • Delivering current projects, work packages, and activities within +/-5% of the current agreed planned cost and schedule
  • Ensuring that rapid prototyping is used where it supports reducing the risk of non-delivery of the project
  • Identifying areas of risk and proposing ideas for de-risking to the project team
  • Advocating for a right first-time culture
  • Leading, motivating, and developing an engineering team of the correct size and with the necessary skills
  • Meeting the company's contractual engineering commitments to the satisfaction of external and internal customers
  • Managing and maintaining the company's products and technologies
  • Providing leadership at all levels of the organisation
  • Communicating and embodying the company vision and values
  • Strengthening talent within the company by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and mentoring new employees
  • Supporting the Early Careers programme
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all necessary parties
  • Evaluating employee performance and providing additional coaching and support as needed
  • Ensuring continuous improvement and aligning organisational processes

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leadership, project management, and technical expertise. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
