About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Molecular Researcher to join our High-Throughput Sequencing unit at The Pirbright Institute. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to delivering high-quality genomics datasets and advancing our understanding of viral disease outbreaks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing samples for high-throughput sequencing, working with automated laboratory robotics systems, and maintaining sequencing equipment and robotic liquid handlers.

As a key member of our team, you will also assist with lab management, communicate progress and data to scientific groups, and support training of collaborating groups on high-throughput sequencing technologies.

You will work closely with researchers and scientists to deliver cutting-edge research in genomics and develop innovative solutions to improve data quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of samples for high-throughput sequencing using core library preparation SOPs
  • Working with automated laboratory robotics systems for sequencing library preparation
  • Maintenance of sequencing equipment and robotic liquid handlers
  • Assisting with lab management, including ordering and inventory control
  • Communicating progress and data to scientific groups and supporting training of collaborating groups

Requirements
  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant branch of biosciences
  • Relevant bench experience in molecular biology and genomics
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
