Maternity Services Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate midwife to join our team at the Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Telephone Helpline Midwife.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a progressive environment where we are committed to transforming our maternity services. As part of our improvement work, we have developed the role of a Telephone Helpline Midwife to work alongside our maternity triage service, which operates Monday to Sunday (07:00 to 20:00).

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing care needs and developing and implementing programmes of care without supervision. They will provide safe, evidence-based advice to women, families, and external agencies who contact our maternity triage department. The post holder will also be responsible for signposting women to other agencies as needed.

Main Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to women and their families. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a woman-centred approach to care delivery and acting as an advocate for women and their babies.
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide care for women and their families.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of relevant policies and guidelines in relation to midwifery practice.
  • Providing individualized care that reflects evidence-based practice.
  • Participating in clinical governance, standard setting, and clinical guideline development and audit.
  • Contributing to the promotion of research-based practices in the area of work.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a registered midwife with a first-level degree in a related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence. You will also need to have evidence of continuing professional development and substantial post-registration experience in all areas of midwifery practice.

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offers a competitive salary of £42,939 to £50,697 per annum, inclusive of HCAS.
