Job Title: Field Technical Support Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Technical Support Engineer to join our team at Reed. As a Field Technical Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our customers across the UK, ensuring they receive the highest level of service and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend customer sites for installations, repairs, and surveys, providing technical support and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide technical support to customers via email, phone, and Teams, ensuring that their queries are resolved promptly and effectively.
  • Configure equipment for installation and prepare customer media using bespoke software, ensuring that all technical requirements are met.
  • Support internal departments and work on multiple projects, involving tasks such as installing equipment on vehicles, configuring servers, and assisting with repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and maintain a courteous manner, ensuring that all interactions are professional and respectful.
  • Manage and prioritize your own workload, being self-disciplined and organized, to meet deadlines and deliver results.
  • Attend meetings in person and via Teams, ensuring punctuality and meeting deadlines, and maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness for occasional overnight stays away from home, as required.
Requirements:
  • Comfortable with Windows-based machines and familiar with networking and serial protocols, with experience in electrical and electronic device repairs, including soldering and cable repairs.
  • Full UK driving license and a valid passport for global travel, with computer literacy and a good understanding of Microsoft Office packages and Windows OS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving, able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of serial communication standards and protocols, with experience in Linux, system design, and technical support roles highly beneficial.
