Job Title: Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist

Nexus Underwriting is looking for a highly skilled Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist to support management and senior leadership in commercial decision making. This role will involve providing accurate financial reporting and analysis to inform business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Planning:
  • Support unit heads in the preparation and delivery of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Ensure ongoing tracking and variance analysis against budgets and provide commentary.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Collaborate with MDs and the finance department to ensure the timely preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Provide detailed month-end reports and commentary for senior management.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement, streamlined reporting, and business process efficiency to enable business management to lead their teams and drive strategy more effectively.
  • Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations and various financial reports to Executives, MDs, and underwriting teams covering financial performance and future planning.
  • Performance and Cost Management:
  • Develop dashboard reporting and key performance indicators to evaluate underwriting and financial performance.
  • Ensure that cost-saving initiatives are accurately measured and aligned with revenue improvement initiatives.
  • Operations:
  • Attend Exec, Board, & ad hoc meetings with the business as required.
  • Key contact between the business units and the Finance team.
  • Assist with the year-end audit where required.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant with 3+ PQE in the insurance industry.

Skills:

  • Proficient Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to engage with different departments.

Knowledge:

  • Practical hands-on experience in the insurance industry, working in a reputable MGA, brokerage, or for a carrier/insurer.
  • Previous experience of financial planning and analysis.

Estimated Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 per annum
