About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Workforce Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work across the civil service and the NHS to deliver public health workforce development for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-develop the workforce plan for KSS with partners to build the capacity and capability of the core and wider public health workforce.
  • Lead the KSS Workforce Leads meeting and project manage the KSS workforce plan.
  • Produce and submit progress papers to the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) network and the South East School of Public Health.
  • Lead the South East Making Every Contact Count (MECC) forum and liaise with providers and commissioners to map activity, share best practice, and build the evidence base for MECC.
  • Evaluate the South East MECC Health and Justice pilot.
  • Work closely with the Associate Head of School of Public Health to support the development of the school in leading the education and training for the practitioner and specialty training programmes.
  • Oversee the KSS practitioner programme to ensure a quality assured and robust scheme.
  • Support the delivery of the South East Workforce Development plan primarily by supporting the delivery of the public health apprenticeship programme across the region.
Requirements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across the Region and the organisation.
  • Experience of working in a public health setting and knowledge of the NHS and local government structures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including public health education and training organisations, local authorities, and NHS organisations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
