About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our cardiovascular and thoracic care group, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist pharmaceutical review of medication for cardiology, cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to advise on medication for CV&T patients to optimize their care.
  • Deliver education and training to a wide range of healthcare professionals working within CV&T.
  • Contribute to department-wide audit, research, risk management, and clinical governance.
  • Develop guidelines to ensure safe prescribing practice.
Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Sound knowledge of a surgical or medical specialty acquired working within a suitable specialty.
  • Meets Foundation framework/GLF competencies.
  • Audit and evaluative work experience.
  • A sound understanding of healthcare priorities and political agendas.
  • Experience of teaching and tutoring.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • MRPharmS or equivalent.
  • Working towards RPS Advanced Core portfolio submission.
  • Training in medicines information.
  • Preparation of prescribing guidelines.
