We are seeking an Apprentice R&D Technician to contribute to the development of cutting-edge scientific instruments at SPT Labtech in Melbourn. As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will assist in the design, testing, and improvement of instruments used in life science applications.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn various aspects of engineering, including mechanical assembly, pneumatics, electronics, software, and low-temperature refrigeration. You will work closely with the Development team, gaining hands-on experience with product operation, testing, fault-finding, and repair. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in design and improvement tasks.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manual assembly and electrical assembly
  • Machine operation and testing
  • Liaising with the Manufacturing Department as needed
  • Designing, building, and maintaining test rigs

Requirements:

  • Relevant technical qualification (level 2 or 3) or A-levels
  • Good analytical and numerical skills
  • Resilience, determination, and good communication skills
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 and above, including English language and STEM subjects
