Academics is seeking a skilled and experienced School Cook to join their team on a term-time assignment basis. This role will involve working in a busy school kitchen in Basingstoke, providing cooked meals for pupils that are both nutritional and appetising.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Kitchen is functional and clean to prepare food daily, implementing the school's Lunchtime and Behaviour policies, and promoting the development of the physical and mental well-being of pupils as directed by a teacher.
This is an on-going assignment working approximately 25 hours per week/5 days a week during term-time (39 weeks of the year). The pay varies on experience from £14 to £18 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide cooked meals for pupils that meet the required standards of nutrition and presentation.
- To maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- To ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the school's Health and Safety Policy, and all locally agreed safe methods of work.
- To organise and arrange deliveries of all food products to ensure stock levels are always adequate.
- To follow food hygiene guidelines and complete all required documentation.
- To provide a friendly, efficient, and hygienic service to all pupils.
- To be pupil-focused at all times, being visible during service periods, approachable, and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling pupil needs.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a similar role or relevant culinary background.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and health and safety procedures.
