Job Title: Building Regulations Principal Designer

We are seeking an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer to join our team at We Recruit Group Ltd. As a key member of our CDM/Principal Designer team, you will be responsible for delivering the Building Regulations Principal Designer role to a diverse portfolio of clients across the built environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building regulations, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate the changes affecting the industry related to the Building Safety Act. You will support our clients in ensuring building regs compliance and provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out building inspections, plan checks, site visits, surveys, and prepare reports.
  • Offer advice around the Building Safety Act and ensure compliance on projects.
  • Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, and other parties.
  • Undertake plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
  • Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
  • Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input related to building regs compliance.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, or similar discipline (desirable but not essential).
  • Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT, or CIOB.
  • Experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes, and legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
