Assistant Professor of Health and Physical Education

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Health and Physical Education to join our faculty at Norfolk State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching pedagogical Health and Physical Education courses, including elementary and secondary methods and content, as well as contributing to the development of the Health and Physical Education program.
Responsibilities- Teach Health and Physical Education courses, including methods and content courses
- Contribute to the development of the Health and Physical Education program
- Advise and mentor students
- Engage in scholarly research and publish in respected refereed scholarly journals
- Participate in departmental, school, and university committees
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Health Education or a related field, with a strong background in teaching pedagogical Health and Physical Education courses. The candidate should also have experience in serving culturally, socially, and economically diverse student populations and be eligible for a Commonwealth of Virginia Professional License with an endorsement in Health and Physical Education.
Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching pedagogical Health and Physical Education courses, including elementary and secondary methods and content. Candidates with knowledge of and experience with CAEP standards for accreditation and assessment processes for continuous program improvement are also preferred.
