About the Role:

The Earlham Institute is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to provide scientific and technical laboratory support to staff, students, and visitors. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient running of the laboratories, handling samples, reagents, and waste, and maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities.

You will be working independently for most of the role, with occasional teamwork required. The ideal candidate will have three A-levels (or equivalent) including a science-based subject or previous experience working in a laboratory. They should also possess sound IT skills, good communication and organizational skills, and attention to detail to promote safe working and good laboratory practice.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in providing scientific and technical laboratory support to staff, students, and visitors
• Ensure the safe and efficient running of the laboratories
• Handle samples, reagents, and waste correctly
• Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities
• Develop management and communication skills in delivery of laboratory tasks and small projects

What We Offer:
• Salary: £22,011-£24,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience (a higher salary may be considered for exceptional candidates)
• Full-time contract of 5 years
