EBRD is a leader in climate finance, with over €13 billion of financing deployed in 2022. Our Office of the General Counsel (OGC) plays a critical role in supporting this mandate by building sustainable and open market economies in the jurisdictions where we operate.


We are seeking an experienced Lead Sustainability Counsel to join our team. This role will lead on climate-related legal matters and advise on sustainability strategies across various sectors.


About the Role

This position will involve working closely with our teams to develop and implement climate-related policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have experience in climate law and policy, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.


Responsibilities
  • Advise on climate-related legal matters, including carbon pricing, green finance, and renewable energy projects;
  • Develop and implement climate-related policies and procedures;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate climate considerations into business operations;
  • Provide training and support to colleagues on climate-related topics;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of climate laws and regulations in our operating regions.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in climate law and policy;
  • Advanced degree in law or a related field;
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Strong understanding of climate laws and regulations in Europe, Central Asia, and other regions where EBRD operates.
