About the Role

RINA's Maritime Safety Consulting division is seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineering Consultant to join a specialist and growing team, working on Defence projects across various naval platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of RINA's Safety and/or ISA capability, providing world-class safety advisory services to the Royal Navy.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Maritime Safety Engineering projects to ensure timely delivery, within budget, and to the required quality;
  • Manage projects individually or as part of a small team;
  • Support with bids, proposals, analysis, and report writing;
  • Promote RINA's Safety capability to customers, providing expert counsel through face-to-face liaison, relationship building, and presentations;
  • Assist the Safety management team in augmenting safety capability to meet new and emerging market demands;
  • This role is not a Health & Safety (HSE) position.
Requirements
  • At least ten years' experience in safety engineering management solutions in high-hazard environments;
  • Knowledge of UK MOD maritime/naval platforms;
  • Experience in conducting Hazard & Safety Risk Analysis or Independent Safety Assurance (ISA) projects and developing safety cases;
  • Experience in using Safety Engineering tools such as Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, ETA, or FTA;
  • Working knowledge of Defence Standard 00-56 and regulations, including DSA02-DMR;
  • Understanding of UK MOD frameworks (e.g., Aurora) and processes (ASEMS, POSMS, POEMS);
  • Engineering background;
  • UK Security Clearance or British citizenship with willingness to undergo vetting.
