Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our team at Sweco. As a key member of our Civil Structures team, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of bridges and ancillary civil structures projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Lead Design Engineer to undertake and check the delivery of design solutions and associated outputs.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and training to colleagues.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Assess, document, and communicate design changes to the Project Manager.
  • Review projects on completion and recommend improvements to technical policy, processes, and design solutions.

Requirements:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural engineering.
  • 10+ years relevant post-qualification structures design experience.
  • Chartered Membership of the ICE or IStructE.
  • Significant experience with design to Eurocodes and DMRB.
  • Experience mentoring graduate engineers under ICE or IStructE training schemes.
  • Extensive experience of delivering projects within tight timescales.
  • Proficient with structural design and analysis software.
  • Significant previous experience of providing project governance on projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Extensive civil structures design experience.
  • Ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members.
  • A full UK driving licence.
