Project Engineer EC&I – Nuclear Sector

As a Project Engineer EC&I – Nuclear Sector, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of projects within the nuclear sector. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring project delivery, identifying risks and opportunities, and working with key stakeholders to optimize project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor project delivery and identify risks and opportunities
- Assess the constructability of proposed designs and ensure that design teams produce feasible designs within required timescales
- Lead the delivery of construction works, ensuring compliance with company processes and protocols
- Review and approve contractor documents as delegated by Project Manager
- Support and develop the supervisory and engineering team, and support project steering groups/cross-discipline action groups as required
- Perform upfront site surveys, including liaison with designers
- Proofread and approve drawings
- Act as point of contact for site-related project issues
- Act as Test Team Leader where appropriate
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
- Manage the implementation of systems and processes for Right First-Time approach
- Oversee the ownership of Handover Documentation for Section
- Input and drive operational target programs to reflect overall construction program
- Liaise with off-site functions for knowledge sharing and best practice
- Identify longer-term strategic training to support individual development as required
- Manage subcontractors and advise on commercial aspects/preferred attendances and operational risks to the scheme and mitigation options
- Support the work-winning process by providing technical input
- Carry out EDF-specific training in becoming EDF-approved field supervisor, nominated competent person, WOC specifier, and Nominated supervisor
- Collate project take-offs for quotation purposes
- Produce EC&I RAMS & Quality plans for client review
- Practical understanding of services discipline associated with the role (EC&I bias)
- HNC/HND qualifications in either Electrical or C&I discipline (advantageous, although not essential)
- Collaborative working environment experience
- Experience in the management of a wide range of construction operations, including phasing and contingency planning, together with testing and handover
- Highly numerate, with strong commercial awareness and good technical knowledge
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a collaborative leadership style
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively within a small but growing project team
- Strong decision-making ability
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Substantial experience within H&S Management in an operational setting, including method statements, accident/incident investigation, knowledge of current HSE and CDM legislation, and proficiency in the use of H&S Management
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately and experience in implementing systems improvements
- Knowledge and experience of links between design teams and operational delivery
- Can understand, implement, and champion the Organisational Business Management Systems and processes involved
- Clear understanding and experience of the requirements for handover and self-certification of the works
