We're seeking a skilled Industrial Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our lightning detection network. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for integrating routine measurements from magnetic loop antennas into our larger long-range lightning detection network, LEELA. This will enhance LEELA's outputs and enable us to better understand lightning strike intensity.


In this role, you will also reprocess previous data from LEELA using new and improved algorithms, helping us to study changes in lightning strike intensity over the last 5 years. Additionally, you will perform comparisons of lightning waveforms with lightning mapping data from the Low Frequency Array and the Lightning Imager in geostationary orbit.


Your Key Responsibilities:



  • Integrate routine measurements from magnetic loop antennas into LEELA
  • Reprocess previous data from LEELA using new algorithms
  • Compare lightning waveforms with lightning mapping data
  • Develop expertise in data analysis, signal processing, and statistical methods
  • Apply Machine Learning methods to solve classification problems
  • Setup instrumentation in laboratory or field settings
