About the Role:

We are seeking two experienced Finance Business Partners to join our Financial Services team at Mid Devon District Council. As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in providing financial advice and support to budget holders and senior officers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a Finance Assistant or Systems Accountant to ensure the effective delivery of financial services.
  • Provide robust financial advice to budget holders and senior officers on all financial matters, including budget setting, monitoring, and closing the accounts.
  • Lead on ad hoc projects and tasks within Financial Services, identifying opportunities to improve financial support and deliver efficiencies in the service.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve financial systems and processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the effective delivery of financial services, including Fixed Assets and Capital Accounting, VAT, Partial Exemption, and Treasury Management.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

CCAB qualification or part-qualified with significant experience in an equivalent role, demonstrating a comparable level of knowledge and capability.Significant technical understanding of Local Government accounting and financial regulations.Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail, with the ability to communicate complex financial matters to non-finance officers.Extensive knowledge of MS Office software and financial software, with experience in financial systems and processes.Previous management experience, with a commitment to delivering a quality service.
