About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Economist to join our team at the Blavatnik School of Government. As part of our Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE), you will be working on a new research project aimed at supporting African policymakers in addressing global and local challenges.

This exciting opportunity allows you to engage with a large community of researchers, develop your own research portfolio, and contribute to impactful research and policy debates. You will hold a graduate degree in economics, public policy, or a related field, with a focus on development economics or political economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on economic development in Africa and developing countries
  • Develop and implement research projects, particularly those related to economic growth and debt crises
  • Engage with policymakers, international organisations, and government agencies to inform research and policy debates

Requirements:

  • PhD in economics or a related field (or relevant work experience)
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to distil complex data into actionable insights
  • Demonstrated interest in development economics and policy engagement
