Lead Occupational Therapist for Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team as a Clinical Specialist in Occupational Therapy for Learning Disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a specialist occupational therapy service focusing on sensory assessment, intervention, and education for service users within our forensic inpatient service.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational therapy, with experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and sensory needs. They will be able to scope the sensory needs within the service, develop a sustainable screening process, and support the therapies team to develop a greater consciousness of sensory practices.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate sensory spaces within the unit, supporting the delivery of OT packages for those with learning disabilities and/or sensory needs, and contributing to the sensory strategy across the trust.

Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver a specialist occupational therapy service focusing on sensory assessment, intervention, and education
- Scope the sensory needs within the service and develop a sustainable screening process
- Support the therapies team to develop a greater consciousness of sensory practices
- Develop and maintain appropriate sensory spaces within the unit
- Support the delivery of OT packages for those with learning disabilities and/or sensory needs
- Contribute to the sensory strategy across the trust
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy
- Masters degree in subject relevant to clinical post or equivalence of knowledge and skills base attained through further training, short courses, relevant study
- Registration to practice in the UK (HPC registered)
- Practice placement educators' course within one year of appointment
- Evidence of post-registration training or experience relevant to learning disabilities and mental health practice
- Evidence of further professional development related to management and leadership
