Job Overview

The University of Stirling is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician: Multi-Skilled to join our Estates & Campus Services team. This role will play a key part in maintaining the University's estate, including building fabric, electrical and mechanical building services, and hard landscaping.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience of working in the field of building services maintenance and repairs within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for undertaking planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive repairs, and delivering a responsive and efficient service to all customers of the Property Management Division.

The role will require the post holder to work across the University Estate, accessing all plant areas, which may include working at height or in cramped/awkward spaces. Occasional out-of-hours working may be required to support key University events. A current driver's license and ability to participate in a backshift rota are also essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake engineering (HVAC/mechanical and plumbing) maintenance, repair, and installation works as required by supervisors or management.
  • Respond quickly to priority tasks, undertaking fault diagnosis and repair, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard in a timely manner.
  • Undertake minor project works as required, replacing or cleaning of filters, and carrying out minor painting/joinery duties.
  • Ensure that all work carried out complies with relevant risk assessments, safety legislation, University safety policies and procedures, and all applicable regulations/bye-laws, Approved Code of Practice's, and good practice guidelines.
  • Ensure that all appropriate documentation, such as risk assessments, time sheets, repair advice slips, etc., are completed correctly, on time, and in a tidy manner.
Requirements
  • The successful candidate will be highly motivated, forward-looking, and have completed a recognized apprenticeship (core trade mechanical/plumbing).
  • Have extensive knowledge and be able to demonstrate experience of working in the field of building services maintenance and repairs within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Have extensive knowledge and experience of HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing maintenance, installation, and repair works.
  • Be strongly focused on customer service delivery, always aiming to exceed expectations and deliver a positive customer experience.
