Main Purpose of the Job:
As a key member of the Heathrow Workshop team, you will be responsible for managing the operations of the workshop to deliver exceptional customer service, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be empowered to make decisions and drive productivity, ensuring efficient use of resources to meet contractual, commercial, and financial obligations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Ensure all servicing, repairs, preventative works, and legal testing are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with HAL regulations.
- Workshop Loading Plan: Take ownership of the workshop loading plan and job priorities to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
- Resource Management: Manage and prioritize resources to ensure the right technical expertise is available to meet demand.
- Job Allocation: Ensure that jobs are allocated in an organized and effective manner to maintain SLA's and customer operational requirements.
- SLA Management: Manage SLA's to meet customer requirements and fleet utilization.
- Support to Other Departments: Provide full support to all areas of the business as required, including Ramp, Parts Department, and Call Centre.
- Operational Readiness: Continually be prepared for operational readiness and peak days.
- Parts Management: Ensure that parts requests are managed effectively, costs are confirmed, and all ordered parts fitted.
- Service Order Completion: Ensure service orders are completed accurately with all required information and photos.
- SAP Support: Provide SAP support to your team as required.
- Productivity and Efficiency: Drive productivity and efficiencies using data from SAP.
- Tooling and Equipment: Ensure that all tooling and equipment are fit for purpose and up to standard.
- Vehicle Fleet Management: Take ownership of the vehicle fleet, tools, and equipment.
- Workshop and Yard Maintenance: Ensure the workshop and yard areas are kept clean and tidy at all times and within company Health & Safety guidelines.
- Safety and Wellbeing: Be accountable for the safety and wellbeing of all staff Airside and Landside.
- Safety Risk Management: Identify top three safety risks and apply mitigation.
- Safety Incident Investigation: Pro-actively investigate all safety incidents and implement mitigation to prevent re-occurrence.
- Accident and Incident Reporting: Report all accidents, incidents, and near miss occurrences using the Quentic System and complete investigations and apply mitigation to prevent re-occurrence.
- Safety Governance: Attend Monthly Safety Governance Group Meetings and progress agreed safety actions to closure.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Make sure work completed by employees, suppliers, or contractors is carried out in accordance with the Company's Health & Safety Policy and SSOW's.
- PPE Audits and Quality Assurance: Conduct regular PPE audits and quality assurance checks to ensure excellent safety standards are maintained at all times.
- Mandatory Training: Manage mandatory training to ensure compliance is maintained at all times.
- Staff Engagement: Engage with staff with effective use of staff briefings and Toolbox talks, encourage and support staff ideas and suggestions.
- Team Management: Effectively manage your team using company agreed policies for performance, absence, grievance, and disciplinary.
- Pro-time Management: Manage Pro-time ensuring on-time clocking in and out.
- Personal Development Reviews: Complete Personal Development Reviews (PDR) with your team and identify any training, development or knowledge gaps.
- Training Plan Management: Manage the training plan for your team.
- Toolbox Talks: Deliver regular Toolbox Talks to ensure colleagues are informed, engaged, consulted, and valued.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Customer Focus: Customer oriented and service delivery focused.
- Health and Safety Knowledge: Good knowledge of health and safety regulations (IOSH/NEBOSH desirable).
- Operational Expertise: Operational expertise desirable.
- Leadership and Management: Proven experience in a management or supervisory capacity and can demonstrate strong people management skills and the ability to lead a team.
- Literacy, Analytical, and Numeracy Skills: Literate, analytical, numerate.
- Financial Understanding: Good financial understanding and negotiation skills.
- Communication and Presentation Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Workshop Procedures and Systems: Understanding of workshop procedures and systems.
- I.T. Systems: Good knowledge of I.T systems.
- Customer-Focused Environment: Experience of working in a customer-focused pressurized environment.
