About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Merchandising Manager to join our team at JD Group. As a key member of our merchandising team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our product strategies across various categories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development
    • Work closely with our buyers to review previous season's performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop and present strategic plans for our product categories, aligning with our business objectives.
    • Drive team development and support internal promotions and succession planning.
  • Product Planning
    • Approve proposed product grading and input into assortment planning processes.
    • Review and apply seasonal plans at category and store levels to meet business objectives.
    • Collaborate with buyers to submit quarterly plans on our system, reflecting the best possible product mix to deliver KPIs.
    • Formulate range plans at store level in conjunction with buyers.
    • Attend selection and pre-selection meetings with buyers and suppliers.
    • Plan pre-scheduling to meet range plans, working with assistant merchandisers.
  • Stock Management
    • Oversee ratios for all buys in conjunction with assistant merchandisers.
    • Ensure buy matches plan buy.
    • Manage intake at category and line levels.
  • Trade and Forecasting
    • Review weekly trading performance and achieved KPIs, identifying issues and courses of action for weekly trading meetings.
    • Propose and agree actions to recover risk and maximize opportunities with buyers at category and line levels.
    • Capture agreed actions in monthly forecast reviews.
    • Work up forecast from category/season level to buyer group.
    • Meet and gain approval for forecast, incorporating sales variance to plan, OTBs, commitment management, and markdown proposals.
    • Provide retail with merchandising aids through store allocators.
    • Manage range plan in season, reflecting any changes.
    • Create and manage/monitor sell-out dates against all products.
  • Collaboration and Leadership
    • Establish collaborative working relationships across functions, including online, store operations, visuals, marketing, finance, DC, and stores.
    • Lead by example through behaviors and professional approach to work, inspiring colleagues and driving for results.
Requirements
  • Experience within a similar role is essential.
  • Experience within a sports/fashion retailer is advantageous.
  • Highly numerate and strong commercial focus.
  • Proven deliverables within previous roles.
