Our client, a leading freight forwarding company, is seeking an experienced Customs Documentation Clerk to join their team in Essex. As a key member of the Customs Clearing / Multimodal Team, you will be responsible for producing customs declarations, ensuring all clearance processes are completed in a compliant and timely manner, and providing professional administration support. Key duties include:

• Completing customs declarations and entries for all sea and road freight shipments, including EADs & T1s.

• Creating, managing, and maintaining accurate documentation as each case progresses.

• Handling customer enquiries, providing accurate advice and estimates when required.

• Communicating with external organisations, such as HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, and Hauliers.

• Obtaining necessary Bill of Lading and Tariff Headings, and processing payments from customers.

• Calculating Duty / VAT costs for each consignment.

• Processing Import/Export declarations.

• Dealing with general enquiries from importers/exporters, internal and external sources, concerning Customs Procedures, Tariff Classifications, Duty Rates, and documentation requirements.

• Staying up-to-date with changes in regulations, laws, and customs procedures.

• Collaborating with different departments to prepare a complete list of Jobs (Shipments requiring customs entries) for the day.

Requirements:

• 2 years experience in a similar role.

• HMRC - Customs declarations experience, Imports and exports.

• Experience of dealing with T1's, POA, EAD, Transit documents.

• Attention to detail is crucial to ensure compliance and pass HMRC audits.

• Excellent communication skills to keep all relevant departments informed.

• Experience of checking and processing all relevant documentation.

• Understanding of different customs procedures and requirements. Experience of Destin8 & Descarte & CNS Systems would be an advantage.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with 2+ years' experience in a Customs Clearance team, with good working knowledge of Destin8 and Descarte. In return, the successful Customs Documentation Clerk will be offered up to £32,000, in line with skills and experience.
