About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Controls Engineer to join our Operations Group at Abbott Diabetes Care in Witney. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing cutting-edge solutions to complex automation problems across all aspects of our manufacturing area.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop innovative approaches to problem-solving and stay up-to-date with current developments in control systems technology.
  2. Collaborate with engineering colleagues to work on systems for motion control equipment, interpret PLC codes, debug issues, and aid continuous improvement activities.
  3. Work on complex automation projects and develop solutions to meet the needs of our manufacturing area.
  4. Fault-find and modify PLC programs for automated machinery, with a focus on Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Allen Bradley Studio 5000.
  5. Utilize Structured Language in both platforms, with experience in other programming languages such as C++ or Python an advantage.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience with a recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Proven track record of accomplishing objectives, working proactively, and managing time effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of control systems technology and automation principles.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
