As a Research Analyst, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly from day one and earn an MSc in Economics from Queen Mary University.

You will become an integral part of a project team advising on the competitive impact of mergers or conduct. Your critical role will involve researching, analysing and interpreting how competition works in your client's industry. Your analysis will form the foundation of expert advice provided to clients, competition authorities and/or courts. You will collaborate closely with your team to understand client issues, relate them to relevant economic theory, and support analysis with robust empirical evidence.

This position is ideal for graduates who are interested in post-graduate studies in economics but want to gain work experience while studying. As a Research Analyst, you will spend 20% of your time undertaking classroom and distance learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse significant client data to deeply understand how competition operates in your client's industry. This includes customer data, price and cost data, and competitor data/market shares.
  • Research how firms compete and identify key variables affecting their decision-making processes.
  • Synthesise all relevant facts to grasp your client's industry.
  • Ensure accuracy and error-free work product through quality control.
  • Draft reports, interpret and summarise analysis.
Skills/Profile Sought:
  • Undergraduate degree in economics, ideally with a focus on microeconomics, industrial organisation and/or econometrics. Graduates with quantitative subjects such as computer science, mathematics and statistics are also considered.
  • Highly analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Effective communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable skills include Stata and Excel proficiency.
