About the Role:
A leading construction business is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join their team. As a key member of the management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and the development of internal policies and procedures.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to take on a pivotal role within the company and progress to a senior finance position within 18-24 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of the finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided to the management team.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, highlighting key issues and making recommendations for improvement.
- Creation of monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts, providing valuable insights to inform business decisions.
- Cash flow management, ensuring the company's financial stability and liquidity.
- Preparation of monthly board packs and commentary, providing a clear and concise overview of the company's financial performance.
- Identification of improvements for accounting systems and processes, ensuring the company's financial operations are efficient and effective.
- Business partnering with wider business areas, providing financial expertise and guidance to support business growth and development.
- Reporting to the Managing Director with timely and accurate financial information, including an understanding of work-in-progress.
- Analysis of operational costs and identification of areas for improvement, ensuring the company's financial resources are utilized effectively.
- Performance of month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
- Previous experience within the construction, engineering, or manufacturing industry is essential, with a proven track record of financial management and leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the wider business team.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial analysis, with the ability to present financial information to board level.
