Company Overview
We are working with one of the UK's leading SME Civil Engineering Contractors to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Civil Engineering Project Manager to join the team.
About the Role
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on a range of high-profile projects up to £10 million in value, including Canal and River Remediation Works, Flood Defence Schemes, Major Highways, and Civil Structures.
Main Responsibilities
- Support and mentor junior staff members
- Maximise profitability on contracts through effective cost management and risk mitigation strategies
- Monitor contract costs against budgets and identify potential risks and opportunities for control
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates and sub-contract documents
- Assess and certify interim and final payments to subcontractors
- Collaborate with colleagues to prepare and agree main contract variations and resolve disputes through negotiations and adjudications/arbitrations
- Ensure all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental policies and company procedures
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Ambitious individual with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach
- Demonstrate innovative problem-solving abilities and negotiation skills across various levels of the construction environment
- Proven experience working on civil engineering schemes, including Highways, Structures, River works, and Flood Protection with a main contractor
- Familiarity with the NEC form of contract and experience as a SQS (Quantity Surveyor/SQS)
- Strong numeracy and IT skills, with proficiency in financial and mathematical aspects of the role
