Key Responsibilities:- Child Protection and Welfare: Prevent the separation of children from their families whenever possible and appropriate, promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
- Assessment and Planning: Establish the appropriate assessment required and identify the level of need for support/services and or placements for children and young people.
- Decision Making and Risk Management: Ensure effective risk management, decision making, and preventative working to safeguard children and young people effectively in accordance with statutory requirements and policies.
- Team Leadership: Maintain effective systems for prioritising, allocating, and monitoring workloads, ensuring suitable systems of supervision and appraisal are in place to meet children and families' needs.
- Quality Assurance and Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team through using managerial performance data, maintaining high standards of social work practice through Quality Assurance and monthly audits.
- Professional Development: Continual professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices and policies in child welfare and protection.
This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding principles, as outlined in the Luton threshold document, and the ability to conduct risk assessments and provide advice and direction to staff and clients.
